Output / publications

The project lasted from July 2012 until October 2015. It yielded a series of international (8) and national (10) publications, as well as many conference communications (43) and seminars (23). It produced five software platforms, four of them being open-source and publicly accessible, the fifth being at the origin of a viral application on Facebook which enabled the large-scale collection of qual-quant data on a dozen of thousands of participants.

It also provided the framework for the successful submission of another collaborative grant (ANR Algodiv, 2016-19) focusing on the next step – the emergence of epistemic landscapes and regimes on the web – and relying in part on the advances of Algopol.

The final workshop of Algopol took place at EHESS on Apr 11, 2016, see the program here. (A two-day workshop had also been organized at the beginning of the project at Centre Marc Bloch Berlin in September 2013.)

Datasets

  • Original datasets
(To be updated soon / June 2016)
  • Derivative datasets
    • memetracker
Dataset derived from the raw data provided by the memetracker project of Leskovec et al. (2009), by reconstructing all phrase clusters as defined in the above 2012 article by Omodei et al. [tar.gz archive (~350MB)] [README file (PDF)]
    • Wikispecies
Dataset representing a socio-semantic graph derived from the the publicly available data dump of the English version of Wikispecies on 05-03-2016. Wikispecies is a scientific wiki that maintains a taxonomy of biological species. The editing history of all the articles in the wiki was used to connect articles by citation, but also attributing citation insertions and removals to users.
The file [gzipped SQLlite3 database (~1.1GB)] is readily usable with the GraphBrain software tool. The database schema is simple enough for the database to be easily usable and understandable even without GraphBrain.

This dataset is a derivative work of Wikispecies and is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) license
